Google Summer of Code 2025 (GSoC) – $3000 to $6000 Stipend

Applications are now open for Google Summer of Code 2025 (GSoC). This international summer program, organized by Google, offers stipends to contributors who complete a free and open-source software coding project.

Participants work on a coding project for 12 weeks under the guidance of a mentor from an open-source organization. GSoC is a fully remote program, and applicants do not need to travel.

How GSoC Works

  1. Students and Developers submit project proposals to participating open-source organizations.

Participants can choose from 195 open-source organizations. The list of organizations and project ideas is available on the GSoC website.

Stipend Details

Stipend amounts vary based on project size and country:

  • Medium-sized Projects:
    • Minimum: $1500
    • Maximum: $3300
  • Large-sized Projects:
    • Minimum: $3000
    • Maximum: $6600
  • Small-sized Projects:
    • Minimum: $750
    • Maximum: $1650

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be 18 years or older at the time of registration.
  • Must be a beginner in open-source software development or a student.
  • Can only participate once as a GSoC contributor.
  • Can submit up to three project proposals (to different or the same organization).
  • Must review the program rules, FAQ, and contributor guide before applying.
